Capacity Building training of Lady Constables Punjab Police

As part of the Cyber Scouts Program, Cyber Scout Shafqat Waqas, serving as In-charge IT within Punjab Police, organized a series of cyber security awareness sessions for Lady Constables across multiple police circles.

Conducted from 14 to 16 December 2020, this initiative reflected the core purpose of the Cyber Scouts Program—empowering trained volunteers to strengthen cyber safety within their own institutions and support colleagues who face increasing exposure to digital threats.

Sessions Conducted
  • Punjab Police — Khanpur Circle
    14 December 2020

  • Punjab Police — Liaqatpur Circle
    15 December 2020

  • Punjab Police — Rahim Yar Khan City & Saddar Circle
    16 December 2020

Purpose

The sessions aimed to strengthen the cyber readiness of Lady Constables and enable Cyber Scouts within Punjab Police to extend digital safety awareness across operational units.
The focus remained on safer communication practices, improved data protection, and informed handling of cyber-related incidents.

Key Topics Covered

Participants received practical guidance on:

  • Safe use of smart devices and official communication platforms

  • Identifying fake messages, unsafe links, and social engineering attempts

  • Protecting personal, operational, and case-related information

  • Cyber harassment, misuse of digital content, and proper reporting channels

  • Maintaining professional and ethical digital conduct as law-enforcement officers

Why Cyber Awareness Matters for Female Police Officers

Female police officers are increasingly targeted through impersonation, online harassment, and unauthorized use of personal content. Strengthening their digital safety not only protects them personally but also enhances their ability to:

  • Handle cases involving women more effectively

  • Respond sensitively to victims of online abuse

  • Contribute to secure, responsible, and modern policing practices

Impact

Across all three police circles, the sessions significantly improved the cyber awareness of lady constables, enabling them to identify digital threats early and adopt stronger cyber hygiene practices.

The initiative demonstrated how Cyber Scouts embedded within Punjab Police can play a meaningful and sustainable role in promoting safer digital behavior across the force.
